Welcome Back! I hope that everyone had a great summer break and was able to take a step back and relax for a moment before heading into our next academic year. On behalf of myself and the entire Student Government Association team that was elected by the student body last spring I would like to thank you for giving us the opportunity to represent you.

Currently we are accepting applications for our appointed positions for all upperclassmen grades. Freshman senator applications are also being accepted and reviewed for approval currently. All senator applications are due online or in our office, Union 211, by 4:00pm on Wednesday, September 11th. Applications can also be found in our office or online.

If you have any questions about running for senate please feel free to reach out to the VP of SGA and President of Senate, Christina Brunetti, christina.brunetti@wagner.edu.

Club fair is right around the corner. I encourage all students to attend and talk with the 71 clubs and organizations we have on campus. They are all excited about the new year and eager to get to know you and possibly have you join their organization.

If for any reason you feel there is an organization not represented at Wagner College that you would like to bring to the campus the process of starting up a club / organization is very simple.

  • Section 1- SGA must approve each new student organization (academic and social), club, forum, religious or political group, etc.. This approval may only occur after the potential new group has submitted its constitution, a list of 10 members (with respective Student ID#), and name of adviser to the SGA President.
  • Section 2- Upon approval by the SGA President, the new group will be placed on the General Assembly meeting agenda and therein must be officially approved by the General Assembly’s 2/3 majority vote . New organizations will only be heard by the general assembly during their first two meetings of each semester. This semester the last possible meeting to be passed as an organization is on September 24th.
  • Section 3- If approved by 2/3 majority vote of the Club Congress, the organization representatives must meet with the Director of Co-Curricular Programs within 1 week." The organization will have all the resources and privileges that come along with being an SGA officially recognized organization with the exception of being able to request financial assistance. After completing a probationary semester and completing all the correct documents on time the organization will be able to receive the full financial assistance from the SGA.

As always I encourage each of you to get the best experience you can out of Wagner. If myself or the SGA can help in any way please do not hesitate to reach out to us and we will do our best to assist you. Best of luck with the upcoming semester and I look forward to seeing all of you around campus this year.

Y'all take care,

Andrew
